Having a coherent personal philosophy makes us largely immune from social programming

People are more susceptible to social programming when they hold no coherent philosophy of their own. A person with a philosophy doesn't really care what other people do or what they try to sell on behalf of their unseen masters. If it doesn't fit in with their philosophy they will ignore it.
