On the purpose and practice of meditation

The purpose

A. Stop the focus on thought and bring the awareness onto the senses, instead.

1. To decondition the brain from social beliefs which may be unhelpful and/or false.
2. To gain inner strength and connect with inner, timeless wisdom.
3. To limit one's dependence on, and addiction to, and trust in thinking... When it's subjective nature is seen in comparison with actual felt experience.
4. To strengthen the process of being aware of our senses for extended periods.

The practice
1. Focus on the body or "energy body" as some would call it. It is the feeling we have of our complete physical being, that is akways there whether we focus on it or not.
