This is based on the elitist notion that the average human is not mature enough to handle the truth of what needs to be done in this world to create the future the elite ones desire.

They feel revealing the truth of their actions may not be understood or appreciated, particularly when it seems to target the population.

This results in a necessary, in their eyes, hiding of the facts, to stop the perceived revolt the truth would awaken.
