The point isn't so much how healthy GMO plants are to consume...

For that will remain a debated thing...

It's whether people want them or not.

At least that would be the case in a truly competitive food market.

In a monopolistic market, dominated by a dominant heirachy, we don't have output based on consumer desires, as their is no effective competition to require this, instead production is what suits those in control of the monopoly power.

To achieve this monopoly power government ministers are created or corrupted  by industry captains into creating the laws that promote their monopoly power, so that money can be paid out, to those up and down the line of power.
