It usually means that the façade of science is adopted- numbers, charts, reports, etc.
But what if these numbers are meaningless?
If the data is no good then the results and subsequent analysis will also be of no use.
The great danger is when bogus numbers are used to push a political agenda.
We should be on the lookout for this.
