Individual spiritual growth
Is the surely the purpose of our existence...

And if families get in the way of that...
Then they must be left behind,
Or at least reduced in importance
For the time being at least!

Has always been thus
Amongst serious spiritual students!

But if the people around you
respect you and your choices
then no problem need present itself!
