When an intelligence agency says something, it doesn't mean it's true. Quite the opposite, in fact.
Intelligence agencies are designed to collect information and keep it for those in the inner circle of power.
They are not created to share such knowledge with the public.
Instead, they spread whatever mis/dis-information serves the purposes, or agenda, of whatever group is in control of the agency.
This is not conspiracy theory but common sense and operates in all spheres of life where power is the ultimate goal.
