The desertification of Australia through the destruction of vegetation

When looked at from the satellite image it becomes clear the areas of Australia where there is continual drought is where the natural vegetation has been almost entirely stripped away.

Only Tasmania, Eastern Victoria and up the Eastern seaboard is there significant areas of trees and other similar vegetation.

Take these away and what holds the moisture in the soil?

If the work of Peter Andrews is correct then Australia was once covered in waterways and vegetation and can return to that state with appropriate care.
