I think it's important to realise the fossil fuel industry is quite willing to see the earth destroyed...

Rather than they pack up and go home.

Sure, many in the industry would be in denial about what is happening on earth and how destructive their industry is, but the majority would know they are moving the planet closer to destruction.

And clearly, they have decided the money is worth it!

And closing down, or reorienting, this megalithic industry, may prove impossible, as the 20th century has shown.

This is a group of people so obscenely wealthy that no-one dare stand against them, in a serious way, as they know they would surely die!
