"Patent chemicals as medicine" is more a triumph of marketing than anything else!

As others have said elsewhere- disease is not a symptom of a pharmaceutical deficiency, so why look in that direction in order to find a cure? It is illogical, to say the least, but presumably chosen because it is highly lucrative!
