Take for example the scores of people who identify themselves as "skeptics" who are, in actuality, credulous believers in a cult of their own (orthodox or corporate science).
It's not as if identifying with a word automatically means we embody that word.
In fact we may be quite deluded about our own biases, and I would suggest that no-one who is politically active could be truly skeptical about everything, as being a true "skeptic" requires, because politics involves pushing an agenda and very often opposing facts can get in the way of that so they are ignored or attacked, without investigation.
