To understand physical life, you need to understand the seed

The seed is the origin of both plant life and animal life. Without seeds there would be no life at all.  Seeds are like a tiny bundle of stored energy and information which enables it to grow into a fully fledged plant or animal when the right environmental conditions are experienced.

With many plants and animals sexual reproduction is needed, which means a male and female member of the species need to share genetic information throw the introduction of the sperm into the egg. This results in the creation of a seed of life which contains everything required to grow to full adulthood, given favourable environmental conditions.

Without the seed this planet would be barren, consisting of only inorganic matter. By introducing seeds into this environment at the correct time it enables first plants, and them animals, to live and thrive in this world.

This gives rise to the question: who invented the seed? How were the first seeds created? Did they evolve?  And if so, from what?  The book above doesn't answer the question of where the original seeds in this universe came from, but it does talk about how such seeds were brought to earth in a certain intelligent succession by an explorer race, and it describes what happened after that to result in the world we have today.
