... to promote and sell their products, it is a very dangerous situation. 

Not only do they use these outlets to promote their products unfairly, and vilify competitors, but they can use governments to force these products on the people or bribe them into receiving them, due to the extensive powers governments have.

For certain "health" products this is incredibly dangerous, as some of these products are highly toxic and very dangerous to those receiving them, yet because of the media and government buy-out people are unaware of this and only sold a rosy story that bears little resemblance to reality.
