It could also be stated as: the means must be worthy of the goal.

This was described by Jesus as "turning the other cheek".

Meaning, don't stoop to the level of your agressor.

Let them pass by without response, and then go on with communicating your divinely inspired sentences.

Nietzsche put it thus: if you stare too long into the abyss it stares back into you.

"He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster. And if thou gaze long into an abyss, the abyss will also gaze into thee."
