If science is recognised as the only truth, then those who control science...

... and the messages sent in its name, will control truth.

You can't control science, you say?

Perhaps not in it's entirety, but the direction it takes can be managed, if not controlled outright, by those in a position to do so, those controlling the purse strings and the organisations this money funds.

Additionally, by mass media (corporate and government driven) focusing on certain scientific findings (real or invented for PR reasons) and excluding others, the public's understand of science can be controlled.

This is the ultimate goal- controlling what people think of as "science" and "scientific" and therefore controlling what they think of as "truth".
