Some say the government is there to distract us from connecting with our true self.
Connecting with our true self is what makes us powerful.
When we are in our true self we know right from wrong and we cannot be deceived.
This is a highly disadvantageous quality for a person to have in the eyes of a would-be despot.
Despots need compliant populations they can lie to at will, not people who will see them for what they are- frauds.
So, governments, in their service to despots help with the job of ensuring the members of its population are distracted from the true self by making demands on them, almost every day of their life, from the age of 5 or so.
